Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics
Faculty of Science
Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University is a dynamic center for exploring the universe—from the smallest particles to the largest cosmic structures. We combine cutting-edge research with high-quality education and offer a welcoming environment for students and scientists at all stages of their careers.
Our department provides a complete educational pathway, from bachelor’s programs in physics and astronomy through follow-up master’s and doctoral studies. Students become involved in research from the early stages of their studies—whether through practical observations (including participation in space projects such as CubeSats and the forthcoming QUVIK telescope) or through theoretical and computational projects. All of this takes place within close interdisciplinary collaboration under one roof.
We are proud of our vibrant and international community of students, postdoctoral researchers, and academic staff. The atmosphere at the institute is open, supportive, and rich in opportunities for learning, collaboration, and engagement in top-tier scientific research. Whether you are beginning your academic journey with us or seeking space for further professional development, you are welcome here.
