Astrophysics of Stars and the Interstellar Medium (ISM)
We study the physics of stars and their interactions with the interstellar medium — from stellar winds to the chemistry and dynamics of the ISM.
The Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics (ÚTFA) of Masaryk University connects fundamental theory with modern observational and data-driven astrophysics. We provide undergraduate and follow-up (master’s) programs, operate the university observatory at Kraví hora, and collaborate with leading ground-based and space observatories. Our research covers stellar astrophysics and star clusters, stellar populations in galaxies, high-energy phenomena, active galactic nuclei, and key areas of theoretical physics.
Jsme odhodláni podporovat novou generaci vědců. Náš institut nabízí bakalářské, magisterské a doktorské programy ve fyzice i astrofyzice kombinující důkladnou výuku s možností zapojení do výzkumu. Studenti získají praktické zkušenosti s analýzou dat, numerickými simulacemi nebo přístrojovým vybavením a mnozí se zúčastní mezinárodních spoluprací a stáží.
